Fortnite’s Reload wins big at EWC with 482% peak viewership

The Reload Elite Series Championship at Esports World Cup 2026 marked Fortnite’s return after a one-year absence and served as the first Global Championship for the Reload game mode. The event expanded the field from 16 Duos in 2024 to 40 Duos in 2026, added a new Survival Stage, and used a Match Point format in the Finals rather than a traditional playoff bracket.

Peak concurrent viewership reached 422,600 during Round 13 of the Finals, up from 72,600 at EWC 2024, a 481.6% increase. Total Hours Watched for the Reload Elite Series reached 4.8 million, about a 506% rise versus the inaugural event in the series. The number of unique broadcast channels covering the championship rose from 49 to 194. Prominent streamers who broadcast the event included Shaun “aussieantics” Cochrane, Bruno “gorilon” Massieri, Mohammed “faxuty” Eid, Cody “clix” Conrod and Nicolas “nikof” Frejavise.

Taylor-Petrik “Vic0try0na” Gatschelhofer and Danila “Malibuca” Iakovenko won the Reload Elite Series title after 13 rounds in the Finals. The pair became Match Point Eligible in Round 11 and secured the Victory Royale in Round 13. Each player received $130,000 from a $1 million prize pool. The win was the only EWC 2026 victory for German organisation BIG and helped the club finish inside the top 20 in the final Club Championship standings.

By peak concurrent viewers through August 25, 2026, the Reload Elite Series Championship ranked as the second most-watched Fortnite event of the year, behind FNCS 2026 Major 1 Summit. Across all titles at EWC 2026, the Fortnite event placed within the top ten by peak concurrent viewership, ahead of tournaments for Dota 2, Valorant and PUBG. Organisers cited the larger field, the added Survival Stage, the Match Point Finals format and broad streamer participation as factors behind the higher audience numbers and longer watch times.
