Fortnite confirms Overwatch skins: D.Va, Tracer, Mercy, Genji

D.Va, Tracer, Mercy and Genji arrive in Fortnite on May 14 with the v40.40 “Answer the Call” update, launching Chapter 7 Season 2 Act 3. Epic posted a teaser and confirmed Item Shop timing.

Epic Games confirmed that four original Overwatch heroes — D.Va, Tracer, Mercy and Genji — will be added to Fortnite on May 14 with the v40.40 update titled “Answer the Call,” which begins Chapter 7 Season 2 Act 3. The studio posted a teaser on the official Fortnite X account showing a silhouette of D.Va in her heart pose and using the phrase “Answer the Call,” a reference to Winston’s recall in Overwatch lore.

Dataminers HYPEX and ShiinaBR located files pointing to an Overwatch collaboration in February 2026; Epic’s May 12 clip served as the official confirmation. The four characters match Overwatch’s original 2016 roster and are expected to be adapted to Fortnite’s visual style.

Files indicate an Overwatch cosmetic bundle will appear in the Item Shop and a new weapon will be added to the Chapter 7 Season 2 loot pool. Leaks report additional cosmetics including back blings, pickaxes, gliders and an Overwatch-themed SUV cosmetic. Epic has not released a full content list, so prices and bundle details remain unconfirmed.

The Item Shop reset is scheduled for 5:00 PM PDT / 8:00 PM EDT on May 14, when the Overwatch bundle is expected to go live. Servers will be taken offline briefly for the v40.40 patch. Epic has not announced a limited-time game mode, and sources indicate gameplay changes tied to Overwatch characters are unlikely at launch.

The collaboration was reportedly planned to coincide with the Chapter 7 Season 2 Battle Pass but was delayed after leaks. Fortnite has released crossovers in stages in past seasons, with initial batches followed by later additions. Whether additional Overwatch content will arrive after the initial release has not been confirmed by Epic or Blizzard.
