BYD Official Automotive Partner of China’s LPL
Chinese EV maker BYD has been named the official automotive partner of China’s League of Legends Pro League ahead of the 2026 season, replacing Mercedes‑Benz.
Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD has been named the official automotive partner of China’s League of Legends Pro League (LPL), the league announced on its social media channels. The announcement said BYD and the LPL share a focus on youth culture, passion and innovation.
Neither BYD nor the LPL disclosed financial terms, the duration of the agreement or the specific rights included in the partnership. The league did not specify whether the deal will include broadcast naming rights, on-site vehicle displays at events, exclusive digital content or other forms of brand integration; it said more details will be released later.
In a translated statement, League of Legends esports wrote: “From today onwards, BYD officially becomes the official partner of the League of Legends Pro League (LPL), bringing a new wave of power to the LPL in the new energy era! On the field, crowned with strength; on the journey together, led by passion; together with BYD, resonating with youthful attitudes through competitive passion, standing at the forefront of the times with hardcore strength, and writing the next passionate story for young people.”
Mercedes‑Benz first sponsored the LPL in 2018 and became the league’s chief partner in 2019. The automaker remained one of the LPL’s most visible backers for more than eight years. When LPL operator TJ Sports published the sponsor lineup for the 2026 LPL First Season, seven brands were listed-JD.com, Li‑Ning, Durex, Skymotor, TCL, Warhorse and AutoFull-and Mercedes‑Benz and smartphone maker OPPO were not included.
Chinese automakers have increased their presence in esports sponsorship. Last month OMODA, a brand of Chery Automobile, signed a multi‑year agreement with Riot Games to become the official automotive partner of VALORANT Esports EMEA. Global Esports Industry Week is scheduled for 18–21 June 2026 in Cologne alongside IEM Cologne, where organizers and partners may present activation plans.
The partnership between BYD and the LPL is confirmed, with commercial and operational specifics to be provided by the league and BYD at a later date.
