BGMI 4.4 launches May 20 with Greek myth mode - news.white.market

BGMI 4.4 arrives May 20 with a Greek mythology mode, new abilities and boss fights. Android rollout starts 06:30 IST (30%) and reaches 100% at 11:30 IST; iOS at 11:30; web at 12:30.

Krafton India confirmed that BGMI 4.4 will release on May 20, 2026. The company set a phased Google Play rollout beginning at 06:30 IST with a 30% release, expanding to 50% at 09:30 IST and reaching 100% at 11:30 IST. The Apple App Store will receive the full update at 11:30 IST, and downloads from the official BGMI website will be available from 12:30 IST. Players are advised to free enough storage space before downloading.

The 4.4 update introduces a Greek mythology-themed mode that alters parts of the Erangel map. New landmarks, classical-style villages and giant statues will appear on the map. The update includes references to legendary figures such as Achilles and Icarus. Pochinki will feature themed items, including a Spartan Helmet, and the Livik spawn island is redesigned for pre-match exploration and interaction.

A competitive feature called Heroes Crown is included in the mode. Squads must complete five trials during matches to earn honor points. The top four teams on Erangel by honor will qualify for the next stage of the challenge. Matches can also include special boss fights activated at key locations, adding player-versus-environment encounters to standard battle royale rounds.

The update adds three new player abilities. The double dash skill enables rapid closing of distance or quick escapes. The Spartan Flag ability deploys a temporary protective shield around the user. Wax Wings grant limited gliding, allowing movement across certain map areas by gliding or brief flight. These mechanics change available movement and combat options during matches.

Several maps receive visual and gameplay adjustments to support the Greek theme and the new abilities. Erangel’s settlements will adopt classical architecture and new statues, and select loot and interactable objects will be modified to match the setting.

Krafton presented the release schedule and feature list ahead of the rollout to give players time to prepare. The staggered timing across platforms is intended to manage distribution and server load. The update will be distributed through the Google Play Store, Apple App Store and the official BGMI website at the times listed above.

BGMI is the India-specific version of the battle royale and regularly issues seasonal updates and themed modes. The 4.4 release includes map redesigns, new abilities and competitive elements aimed at changing how players move and engage during matches. Previously, we reported that Krafton added the Harley‑Davidson CVO Road Glide ST as an upgradeable motorcycle in BGMI 4.4.
