100 Thieves in talks to sign Gizmy as new IGL

100 Thieves are in talks with Monte to sign Jack “Gizmy” von Spreckelsen as their in-game leader. If the transfer is completed, the 22-year-old would replace Håvard “rain” Nygaard as the team’s active IGL, while rain is expected to shift to another role within the organization.

People familiar with the negotiations say Gizmy would assume captaincy duties. He joined Monte Gen’s academy in November 2023 and alternated between the academy and main roster before earning a second promotion in January 2025, when Monte named him IGL.

Gizmy marked his January 2025 promotion on social media, writing: “I’ve reinvented myself as a player, and from now I will be leading the team alongside [then-coach] AiyvaN. Time to show some magic.”

Gizmy helped Monte qualify for the IEM Cologne Major. Monte advanced out of Stage 2 and finished Stage 3 with a 1-3 record, losing 0-2 to Aurora, winning 2-1 against PARIVISION, and losing 1-2 to The MongolZ and eventual champions Falcons.

Rain’s tenure as 100 Thieves’ IGL has been his first long-term assignment in the role; he previously held a brief captaincy in 2015. Sources indicate the organization plans to retain rain on the roster in a different capacity rather than release him.

There are additional roster discussions involving Monte. Aurimas “Bymas” Pipiras, Oscar “AZUWU” Bell and Aurélien “afro” Drapier have been in talks to join Luminosity as free agents, and Aleks “Rainwaker” Petrov may move in a related transfer. Those negotiations, if finalized, would alter Monte’s lineup and affect talks about Gizmy.

Neither the 100 Thieves CS2 roster nor Monte has announced the transfer. Representatives for the teams and the players did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Reflecting on the Major run, Gizmy wrote: “Making stage three is what we wanted from the beginning, I’m very proud of the team.”
