ztr Weighs Options as FOKUS Loan Nears Expiry
Erik “ztr” Gustafsson is assessing his future as his loan from GamerLegion to FOKUS, which began in February, approaches expiry, according to people familiar with the matter.
Erik “ztr” Gustafsson is weighing whether to return to GamerLegion, remain with FOKUS on a permanent deal, or move to another team as his loan term nears its end, according to people familiar with the situation.
Gustafsson joined FOKUS in February after the German organisation built an international Counter-Strike roster coached by Jakub “kuben” Gurczyński. During his loan the team won Urban Riga Open Season 3 and qualified for PGL Bucharest, but posted mixed results later in the season.
FOKUS finished second at BC Game Masters Championship Season 2 and failed to advance from the group stage of Super DraculaN Season 1 following defeats to Echo and INFINITE. The combination of early successes and later inconsistency is part of the context for current roster discussions.
Before the loan, Gustafsson captained GamerLegion for about 18 months. He had been signed by GamerLegion in July 2024 to fill the role previously held by Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski; Snax has since returned to the team.
The loan to FOKUS brought an experienced in-game leader to the new project while keeping Gustafsson active in competition. People involved say the ending loan period has prompted both clubs to consider their options ahead of the off-season.
French streamer Sebastien “KRL” Perez has reported that FOKUS is evaluating changes beyond the captaincy, including a possible replacement for 17-year-old AWPer Georgi “Jorko” Mitev, who ranked 25th in a recent prospects list. Team management has not confirmed any roster moves.
Teams are expected to clarify Gustafsson’s status as the loan concludes and organisations finalise rosters for upcoming events. Any decision will determine immediate lineups at FOKUS and GamerLegion during the next competitive cycle.
