Yuri ‘yuurih’ wins four clutches as FURIA beat 9z

FURIA defeated 9z at the LANXESS Arena in Cologne during the IEM Cologne Major playoff stage, advancing in the lower half of the bracket. The victory was driven in part by strong late-round play on Mirage, where Yuri ‘yuurih’ Santos won four clutch rounds.

One decisive moment came on a 2v1 pistol round on Mirage. Yuurih expected an opponent on the stairs and took the kill that decided the round. He described the sequence as chaotic and said he felt certain the round was his after the final kill. He also acknowledged a later mistake on the same map that cost a force-buy round, calling it ‘my bad.’

Yuurih credited his teammates for the map win, noting their support helped him convert clutch situations. He recalled the team’s clutch rounds from last year and said they have been winning similar rounds again this season. ‘My team played really good, they helped me a lot as well, everyone played insane,’ he added.

On his individual form, yuurih said he has struggled on the Terrorist side since the start of the year and contrasted that with last season, when he performed better on T side. He noted his Counter-Terrorist play has been steadier and that team results at some events have helped him regain confidence on attack.

FURIA will meet Aurora next in the lower bracket. Yuurih described Aurora as a strong opponent at the Major and said the match will be difficult, while expressing belief the team can advance to the finals.

The win over 9z advances FURIA in the playoff bracket and sets up the next match against Aurora, where team execution and yuurih’s form on T side will be factors to watch.
