Worlds 2026 average viewership rises 8% as peak falls
Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage average viewership rose 8.15% year over year, while peak viewership fell and no match exceeded two million viewers.
The League of Legends World Championship’s Swiss Stage ended with average viewership up 8.15% from 2025. Peak viewership declined, and no match surpassed two million viewers, compared with three such matches at last year’s tournament.
T1 led the audience rankings, appearing in three of the five most-watched matches. Its game against Dplus KIA drew the Swiss Stage’s highest peak, with 1,836,125 viewers. G2 Esports versus Hanwha Life Esports reached 1,785,416 viewers, followed by T1 versus CTBC Flying Oyster at 1,784,678, T1 versus Movistar KOI at 1,736,719 and Bilibili Gaming versus Hanwha Life Esports at 1,688,935.
Total hours watched increased 10.5% year over year. Average viewership rose despite the lower peak. The decline in peak viewership was mainly linked to lower Korean-language audience numbers. T1 qualified for the Knockout Stage early and played fewer Swiss Stage matches than in previous years, reducing the number of games involving one of the region’s most-watched teams.
The tournament’s location in the United States placed matches in less convenient time slots for viewers in several other markets. Viewership increased across every broadcast language except Korean. French-language broadcasts grew 114.5%, while Portuguese-language broadcasts rose 106.3%.
Karmine Corp reached the 2-2 stage, attracting French-speaking viewers. Brazilian team LOS also reached the 2-2 stage before failing to qualify for the Knockout Stage, drawing Portuguese-speaking audiences.
The Knockout Stage is scheduled to begin on Nov. 3, when Top Esports will face Invictus Gaming. The remaining teams will compete in best-of-five series, with one match scheduled each day through Nov. 14. The Grand Finals will determine the 2026 League of Legends world champion.
