Vitality rout Lynn Vision to reach EWC playoffs

Team Vitality defeated Lynn Vision 13-2 on Dust2 and 13-5 on Inferno at the Esports World Cup in Paris to advance to the tournament’s top 16. Mathieu ‘ZywOo’ Herbaut led the series with a 2.17 rating.

The match took place in Group C’s lower bracket after Vitality recovered from an earlier upper-bracket loss to B8. The result eliminated the Chinese side from the Paris event.

On Dust2 Vitality’s defense limited Lynn Vision to two rounds. Broadcasters described the performance as ‘leisurely’ and ‘casual’ as the Chinese roster failed to sustain an attack. ZywOo won a 1v3 on the B site, picking up multiple kills and nearly completing an ace before running out of ammunition; Vitality closed the map 13-2.

Inferno produced more late-round action but a similar outcome. William ‘mezii’ Merriman survived a 1v3 afterplant in a pistol sequence to allow the bomb to detonate, and ZywOo converted a separate 1v3 on the way to an 8-4 halftime lead. Vitality took the second pistol round and kept control until Lynn Vision’s Lizhi ‘Starry’ Ye executed a 1v3 retake that briefly delayed the finish; the map ended 13-5.

Individual statistics reflected the match result. ZywOo finished 40-17 with 140.0 average damage per round, 90.9% KAST and a 2.17 series rating. Mezii went 28-13 with a 1.47 rating. Shahar ‘flameZ’ Shushan and Robin ‘ropz’ Kool each recorded 26 kills and 1.46 ratings. Team captain Dan ‘apEX’ Madesclaire was 20-18 with a 1.01 rating. Lynn Vision players posted lower numbers: Junjie ‘EmiliaQAQ’ Tang 15-26 (0.67 rating), Zhe ‘Westmelon’ Niu 13-27 (0.65), Sike ‘z4KR’ Zhang 17-31 (0.64), Qihao ‘C4LLM3SU3’ Su 15-31 (0.61) and Lizhi ‘Starry’ Ye 15-26 (0.58).

Vitality advance to the EWC playoff bracket and will face an opponent determined by remaining bracket results. Lynn Vision exit the tournament in Paris.
