Tundra Esports exits competition to become UK media hub

Tundra Esports will stop fielding or signing competitive rosters and rebrand as a UK media hub after releasing its Dota 2 team, which signed with 1win and kept its TI 2026 invite.

Tundra Esports announced it will stop fielding or signing competitive rosters and rebrand as a UK-based media hub. The organisation posted the news in a thread on X three days after it announced the departure of its Dota 2 roster on June 1.

Tundra said it will produce news, entertainment shows, memes and interactive content while remaining active for its community. In the thread the organisation wrote: “we loved our community too much to simply shut down and disappear.”

The departing Dota 2 roster and its support staff signed long-term contracts with 1win. The players carried their direct invite to The International 2026 with them, allowing the team to compete under the new banner at the Esports World Cup and The International 2026 in Shanghai without interruption.

Tundra did not provide financial or operational details to explain the decision. The announcement came weeks before The International and the organisation did not comment on whether financial factors influenced the change.

During its competitive period, Tundra won multiple major events, including The International 2022, BLAST Slam III, IV and V, DreamLeague Season 28 and ESL One Birmingham 2026. The ESL One victory featured British player Ari lifting the trophy in front of a home crowd.

Other esports organisations have recently left Dota 2; South American teams HEROIC and paiN Gaming departed in the previous two months, citing concerns about financial viability and sustainability.

Tundra thanked its players and coaching staff in the X thread and wished the roster well as it transitions to 1win. The organisation said it will continue to produce Dota 2 content and other programming from the UK.
