Top three seeds drawn into same half at IEM Cologne Major

The IEM Cologne Major quarter-final draw placed the top three teams — Spirit, Falcons and Team Vitality — in the same half of the bracket. Matches move to the LANXESS Arena on June 18-19, with Falcons set to face Vitality and Spirit drawn against G2.

Falcons and Vitality are scheduled to play on June 19 at 17:00 local time. Spirit, ranked third in the world, will meet G2 on June 19 at 13:45. The LANXESS Arena stage opens on June 18 with Aurora versus BetBoom at 13:45, followed by a South American derby between 9z and FURIA at 17:00.

With three top-ranked teams on the same side of the bracket, at least one of those teams will be eliminated before the semifinals. The opposite half of the bracket features FURIA, 9z, Aurora and BetBoom, with FURIA the only team among those four ranked in the global top five.

Gabriel FalleN, who has lifted two trophies at the LANXESS Arena, will lead FURIA into the June 18 evening match as the team seeks another deep run at the venue.

Organizers scheduled four quarter-final ties across two days, with two matches per day played on the main stage. Winners of the four matches will advance to the semifinals; the bracket will not be reseeded.

The quarter-finals will determine which teams move on to the weekend semifinals and finals at the LANXESS Arena. Match times listed are local time for Cologne.
