Thunder Downunder upset MIBR on Inferno at the opening day of the IEM Cologne Major, advancing into the event’s 1-0 pool.

The Australian team controlled Inferno from the opening rounds and converted a decisive CT-side force-buy that helped close the map. Tyson ‘asap’ Paterson completed an ace during that force-buy and recorded four kills with a Five-SeveN.

Paterson finished 21-9 with a 106.1 ADR, 89.5% KAST and a 2.04 rating. Tynan ‘TjP’ Purtell went 15-11 with a 92.6 ADR and a 1.70 rating. Jay ‘Liazz’ Tregillgas posted 15-12 with an 80.9 ADR and a 1.10 rating. Christopher ‘dexter’ Nong ended 9-11 with a 51.7 ADR and a 0.84 rating, while Alistair ‘aliStair’ Johnston finished 8-12 with a 45.5 ADR and a 0.74 rating.

MIBR’s Carlos ‘venomzera’ Eduardo led his team with a 15-16 line, an 81.9 ADR and a 1.22 rating. Klimentii ‘kl1m’ Krivosheev recorded 13-14 with a 72.9 ADR and a 1.09 rating. Breno ‘brnz4n’ Poletti was 8-14 with a 60.7 ADR and a 0.78 rating. Linus ‘LNZ’ Holtäng went 9-13 with a 52.2 ADR and a 0.76 rating.
