Spirit defeats B8 2-0 to reach Esports World Cup quarters
Danil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets led Spirit to a 2-0 win over B8 at the Esports World Cup, posting a 2.43 rating on Dust2 with a Deagle ace and a map-closing four-kill.
Spirit beat B8 2-0 at the Esports World Cup to reach the quarter-finals. The win followed a dominant opener on Dust2 in which Danil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets recorded a 2.43 map rating.
Donk produced two high-impact Deagle clutches on Dust2. He scored an ace in round 11 that gave Spirit a lead going into the CT side and finished the map with a four-kill round in round 22.
Spirit kept control on Mirage, limiting B8’s chances across the series. Donk finished the two maps with 45 kills and 25 deaths, an average damage per round of 114.7 and a series rating of 1.82. The team lost only three buy rounds outside of the opening pistol and the conversion rounds on Mirage.
B8 had isolated moments of pressure. Dmytro ‘esenthial’ Tsviren produced a four-kill pistol round, and Alexey ‘alex666’ Yarmoshchuk disrupted several Spirit setups. B8 were unable to string those moments into sustained buy-round success.
Spirit will meet Vitality in the quarter-finals. The sides last met more than four months ago in the IEM Rio grand final, where Vitality defeated Spirit.
Earlier the same day, Spirit Academy graduate Maksim ‘kyousuke’ Lukin posted a career-best LAN map, recorded hours before donk’s Dust2 performance.
