Spirit beat BIG 2-1 to clinch a place in the Esports World Cup playoffs, dropping Cache before winning Dust2 and Mirage.
Spirit defeated BIG 2-1 to secure a place in the Esports World Cup playoffs, losing the first map Cache before winning Dust2 and Mirage to close out the series.
On Cache, BIG took control on the Terrorist side. Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz and his teammates used utility and coordinated site executions to win rounds, while Danil “donk” Kryshkovets was the primary resistance for Spirit. Myroslav “zont1x” Plakhotia produced clutch plays in the second half but BIG closed the map.
Dust2 began with Spirit holding an early lead, then BIG recovered to lead 7-5 as Spirit’s Terrorist rounds stalled. Gleb “gr1ks” Gazin produced a match-highlight 1v3 that included two noscopes and a jumping shot. Spirit recovered on the CT side, with Andrey “tN1R” Tatarinovich helping spark an eight-round run that reversed the score and forced a decider.
On Mirage, BIG posted a strong first half on CT using frequent A-site setups. Spirit’s offense improved after halftime. Donk recorded multiple multi-kill rounds across the series, and Spirit closed the decider to complete the 2-1 victory.
Boris “magixx” Vorobiev acknowledged the match was difficult in a post-match stream interview: “We have a couple of days in front of us to figure out how we are going to play the next games, and this time might be enough to change a lot of things going on in the game. I just hope we will manage to use that time to get better.”
Individual statistics from the match show donk with 65 kills and 45 deaths, a 91.5 ADR and a 1.41 rating. Dmitry “sh1ro” Sokolov had 47 kills and a 1.21 rating. Zont1x finished 36-38 with a 1.01 rating. For BIG, Benjamin “blameF” Bremer posted 50 kills, 38 deaths and a 1.23 rating, Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz had 48 kills and a 1.14 rating, and gr1ks recorded 44 kills with a 1.03 rating.
The win guarantees Spirit a spot in the Esports World Cup playoff bracket and gives the team a short period to prepare for their next match.
