s1zzi’s AWP sends B8 past BIG to IEM Cologne Stage 3
B8 beat BIG 2-1 at IEM Cologne, losing Ancient 7-13 but winning Overpass 13-6 and Dust2 13-8 to claim the final Stage 3 spot as 16-year-old s1zzi led with the AWP.
B8 defeated BIG 2-1 at IEM Cologne in the final Stage 2 decider, earning the last Stage 3 berth and a top-16 slot at the tournament. The best-of-three took place in Cologne, with map scores Ancient 7-13, Overpass 13-6 and Dust2 13-8.
The series opened on Ancient, B8’s pick, where BIG posted a strong CT half. BIG led 5-1 early and 8-4 at the switch, with Benjamin “blameF” Bremer recording 16 kills as BIG closed the map 13-7. B8 won two rounds in the second half but could not overturn BIG’s lead.
On Overpass, 16-year-old Danylo “s1zzi” Vinnyk impacted rounds with the AWP. He produced four kills in the fourth round against a force buy, added multi-kill rounds later in the half and finished the first half with 19 kills, including an ace in a pistol round and a three-kill final round to send B8 into the break leading 11-1. BIG won five straight to open the second half, but B8 recovered to take the map 13-6.
Dust2 decided the match. BIG started on CT and opened 6-0. B8 answered with a five-round streak on T side and trailed by two at halftime. s1zzi had three kills in pistols and four in the anti-eco to level the score at 7-7. B8 controlled the remainder of the match and Artem “kensizor” Kapran finished the map with an ace to secure a 13-8 win.
Across the series s1zzi finished 62-36 with a 93.3 ADR, 85.0% KAST and a 1.49 overall rating. He recorded map ratings of 2.01 on Overpass and 1.51 on Dust2. Kensizor went 51-37 with a 91.6 ADR and a 1.39 rating. Andrii “npl” Kukharsky posted 42-44 with an 82.4 ADR and a 1.05 rating. Dmytro “esenthial” Tsviren was 29-36 with a 60.0 ADR and a 0.90 rating, while Alexey “alex666” Yarmoshchuk finished 29-39 with a 53.6 ADR and a 0.77 rating.
For BIG, blameF led with 49-38, an 81.8 ADR and a 1.31 rating. Jon “JDC” de Castro went 42-48 with a 1.08 rating. Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz was 32-42 with a 71.6 ADR and a 0.95 rating. Gleb “gr1ks” Gazin finished 39-44 with a 62.4 ADR and a 0.81 rating, and Josef “faveN” Baumann was 30-43 with a 53.5 ADR and a 0.75 rating.
The victory sends B8 into Stage 3 of the IEM Cologne Major. s1zzi is listed at No. 32 in prospect rankings and is 16 years old.
