Riot reveals Mel and Jayce as Vendetta spoilers at MSI

Riot Games revealed the first official Riftbound Vendetta card spoilers, Mel and Jayce, during the MSI Play-In broadcast of the T1 vs KC match. Both champions appeared in game one and were shown as small side-banner previews that included base and alternate art.

Mel is an epic champion card that costs four, with 1 Mind and 4 Might. Her Empower ability requires spending three energy to grant an additional effect: spells and abilities that reduce an enemy’s Might trigger a second time for an extra -1 Might.

That interaction affects cards such as Eclipse, Smokescreen, Thousand Tail Watcher, Stupefy and Ahri’s legend. The three-energy Empower cost suggests Mel will be used in mid-to-late game lines. She can also be placed in Ahri decks by using Sona to ready runes and then spending them to activate Mel’s Empower effect.

Jayce was shown in a rare variant with alternate art. He is a four-cost champion with 1 energy and 5 Might. When Jayce is ready, the player may choose one of three options for that turn: Assault 2, Deflect 2 or Ganking. The design benefits strategies that ready Jayce repeatedly or cheaply.

Jayce appears as an orange card, creating potential synergies with cards that enable extra attacks or readiness, such as Sivir’s On the Hunt and First Mate. Both Jayce and Mel include alternate art variants.

The card images in the broadcast were small; full-resolution images are expected when Riot begins official Vendetta previews next Monday. Riot has indicated additional T1-unique cards will be shown during MSI, though timing and selection were not confirmed.

MSI continues: T1 advanced to the Upper Bracket Finals. TLAW and KC will meet in the Lower Bracket Finals to determine who joins T1 on the main stage. Viewers who want a closer look at the previews can full-screen broadcast clips to inspect the side-banner images.
