PPL funds South London esports youth club
Esports Youth Club has received undisclosed funding from Southwark consultancy PPL to continue youth sessions in Lewisham and develop its services.
Esports Youth Club (EYC), a South London organisation that uses video games and esports in its youth work, has received new funding from PPL, a management consultancy based in Southwark. The amount was not disclosed.
The funding will support EYC’s sessions in Lewisham, southeast London, as well as the staff and systems behind them. The organisation plans to use the money to better understand the young people it works with, improve its sessions and establish a more stable base for future services.
The funding follows earlier support from PPL, the National Lottery and the Haberdashers’ Company. That support helped EYC reopen its weekly youth sessions in Lewisham earlier in 2026.
“PPL chose to back us at exactly the stage where it makes the biggest difference,” Lewis Kay, EYC’s managing director, wrote in the funding announcement. “Their support gives us financial stability, confidence and the space to grow, and it means more young people across South London get consistent, high-quality provision.”
PPL’s joint chief executives, Claire Kennedy and Simon Morioka, said EYC provides young people with places to connect, build confidence and develop a sense of belonging through gaming.
PPL also provides free meeting rooms and event spaces to local charities through The PPL Hub at its Southwark headquarters. The company said the initiative has saved charities more than £250,000 so far.
