Blizzard’s Taking Reign event began in Overwatch on Nov. 3 and will run through Dec. 7, 2026. The event marks the end of the year-long Reign of Talon storyline, which follows Vendetta’s conflict with Doomfist over control of Talon.
The event pass has 24 tiers. Players earn Event XP from matches and event challenges to progress through it. Each tier requires 1,000 Event XP, for a total of 24,000 XP. Regular Battle Pass XP does not count toward event progression.
The pass includes 14 free tiers and 10 premium tiers. The premium track costs 1,000 Overwatch Coins. Its rewards include the Legendary Resurgence Doomfist skin at tier one and the Legendary Anima Fang weapon for Vendetta at tier 24. The free track includes the Epic New Empire Sigma skin at tier 23.
Other rewards include loot boxes, player icons, sprays, name cards, weapon charms, voice lines, emotes, Vendetta’s Executive Chair highlight intro, Doomfist’s Triumph victory pose and the Crowned player title. The free tiers also provide 20,000 Battle Pass XP.
Players receive Event XP from matches and four weekly event challenges. During the first week, the challenges require five, 10, 15 and 20 completed games. Wins count as double progress, and each challenge awards 2,000 Event XP. The second week’s challenges will become available on Nov. 10 and will use the same requirements and rewards. Four new challenges are scheduled each week during the five-week event.
Players who purchase the premium pass can continue progressing through its tiers after the Taking Reign event ends. The pass is part of Overwatch Season 5’s midseason content.
