Gen.G Sweeps LYON to Reach Worlds 2026 Semifinals

Gen.G beat LYON 3-0 in the Worlds 2026 quarterfinals on Nov. 4 in Allen, Texas, setting up a semifinal against Invictus Gaming on Nov. 7.

Gen.G defeated LYON 3-0 on Wednesday at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas, to reach the Worlds 2026 semifinals. The result ended LYON’s first appearance in the tournament’s knockout stage and left the LCS without a team in the title race.

The quarterfinal was a rematch of the teams’ Swiss Stage meeting, which Gen.G won 2-1 after coming from behind. Gen.G did not lose a game in the second series.

LYON started Game 1 with two level-two kills from its bot lane, led by Kim “Berserker” Min-cheol. Gen.G responded through its top side, where Kim “Kiin” Gi-in’s Olaf and Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu’s Qiyana helped turn the game. Gen.G secured Baron, claimed the Hextech Soul and took a 1-0 lead.

Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk led Gen.G in Game 2 on Ashe. Gen.G’s bot lane secured two early kills, while Canyon, playing Jarvan IV, stole a dragon during a teamfight. Gen.G extended its lead, used a Baron buff to enter LYON’s base and made the series score 2-0.

LYON won several teamfights in Game 3 after Gen.G gained an early advantage through Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon’s Taliyah. Chovy created an opening in the top lane while Kiin pressured Aurora. Gen.G regained control during the Dragon Soul fight, secured Baron and ended the series with an ace, eliminating all five LYON players without losing a player.

LYON had been the only team to take a game from Gen.G in the Swiss Stage. The LCS representative reached the knockout stage with a 3-2 record.

Gen.G will face Invictus Gaming in the semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 2 p.m. PT, 4 p.m. CT, 5 p.m. ET and 11 p.m. CET. Invictus Gaming defeated Top Esports 3-1 in the quarterfinals. Gen.G beat Invictus Gaming in a best-of-one match during the opening round of the Swiss Stage.
