Magixx jokes about HE grenade that ended Nuke round

Spirit ended a nearly two-year, six-match losing run to Vitality with a quarter-final win at the Esports World Cup. The series included an overtime loss on Nuke where a high-explosive grenade eliminated Danil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets at very low health. Spirit then won the deciding Mirage map to reach the semi-finals.

Boris ‘magixx’ Vorobiev later told teammates he has a habit of throwing HE grenades at outside players on Nuke and joked with S0tF1k about the grenade finish after the round. He called the Nuke ending “weird” and added that it “didn’t affect me in any way.”

Magixx expressed uncertainty about whether the HE changed the round, saying he did not recall the exact defensive setup. He pointed to donk’s ability to secure kills at very low health: “Even at 5 HP he can get a double kill, maybe triple kill.”

Magixx referenced comments from Mathieu ‘apEX’ Herbaut about difficulty performing in front of a home crowd at the Paris Major and noted that pressure on Vitality contributed to Spirit’s win.

Spirit used a three-day break between the group stage and playoffs to address errors. Magixx summed the team’s work as “Just play better” and added, “Usually, yeah.”

Next, Spirit will face Legacy in the semi-final, the first meeting between the teams. Magixx cited recent Legacy results, including ending Vitality’s streak in Austin, strong wins over Falcons, and a dominant game against MOUZ, and cautioned that unprepared opponents could be surprised.

The quarter-final win advances Spirit to the Esports World Cup semi-finals.
