MaaRaa to miss BLAST Bounty Finals and Esports World Cup
Erdenedalai “maaRaa” Bayanbat will not travel with The MongolZ to either event and will provide coaching support remotely.
The MongolZ announced that Erdenedalai “maaRaa” Bayanbat will not be on site for the BLAST Bounty Finals or the Esports World Cup. He will remain in contact with the squad and provide coaching support from a distance. The statement did not specify a reason for his absence.
The 36-year-old coach missed two events earlier this year: the Pro League playoffs and BLAST Open Rotterdam. The MongolZ were eliminated in the quarter-finals of both tournaments.
The team qualified for the BLAST Bounty playoffs in its debut, driven by performances from Zolbayar “tikuak” Chimedtseren and Dugarsuren “DarkMeister” Ireedui. The organisation described the playoff berth as a positive sign and noted competing without their long-time coach will present challenges for the campaign.
The MongolZ have not named an interim coach. Current staff and players will handle in-person coaching and match-time decisions while maaRaa supports strategy and analysis remotely. The extent of his involvement during live matches was not detailed in the announcement.
The club is preparing to defend the Esports World Cup title it won in 2025. The organisation noted retaining that title will be difficult without maaRaa, who was voted the second-best coach by his peers last year.
