Legacy’s dumau: arT balances tactics and player prefs
After Legacy’s 2-0 win over M80 at IEM Atlanta, Eduardo ‘dumau’ Wolkmer said coach arT is blending his tactical vision with players’ preferences as the team prepares for Astralis and the Cologne Major.
Legacy opened IEM Atlanta with a 2-0 win over M80 on May 12, 2026. The victory set up a match against Astralis and marked the team’s penultimate event before the IEM Cologne Major.
Rifler Eduardo ‘dumau’ Wolkmer reviewed the result and the team’s recent run of events. Legacy finished in the top eight at ESL Pro League Season 23, then exited in the group stage at PGL Bucharest and IEM Rio. After the loss in Rio, the squad questioned itself and has since rebuilt internal trust and accountability.
On tactics, dumau described coach Andrei ‘arT’ Piovezan’s adjustments as gradual and collaborative. He said arT is trying to balance his own game plan with what players prefer on each map, and that changes come through ongoing conversations and testing. He warned that lack of change can leave a team stuck at a lower tier.
Dumau addressed his on-map relationship with arT, noting both have aggressive tendencies but a long history together. He explained that past chemistry helps them coordinate roles and utility use, and that pre-game discussions make it easier to complement each other’s play.
Legacy’s next scheduled match at IEM Atlanta is against Astralis. After Atlanta, the team will travel to China for the China Esports Championship and then hold a one-week bootcamp before attending the IEM Cologne Major. Dumau said the immediate focus is daily preparation and treating each match individually: ‘Game by game, we have to do what’s in our minds, have confidence in each other, and just focus game by game. Try to win every day, as much as possible.’
The team plans to use the remaining events and the bootcamp to refine roles and practice consistently ahead of the Cologne event.
