Legacy secures final EWC playoff spot with 2-0 win over MIBR

Legacy defeated MIBR 2-0 at the Esports World Cup in Rio, earning the tournament’s final top-16 playoff berth. The match took place in the event’s group stage and was part of Legacy player Santino “try” Rigal’s debut for the organisation.

The series opened on Nuke. Legacy established an early advantage with a dominant CT half, leading 9-3 at intermission after repeatedly disrupting MIBR’s Upper-site approaches. MIBR mounted pressure after the side switch and briefly reduced the margin, but Eduardo “dumau” Wolkmer led a run through Hut into the A site and a sequence of follow-up plays that helped Legacy close the map. Legacy also won a late 2v4 situation on Nuke that preserved momentum.

On Inferno, MIBR won the CT pistol but scored few rounds in the opening half as Legacy built a lead. MIBR staged a second-half comeback and exploited economic strain caused by Legacy’s early aggressive buys, but Legacy regrouped and finished the map to complete the 2-0 result.

Individual statistics reflected Legacy’s advantage. Santino “try” Rigal posted 38 kills and 21 deaths, Vinicius “n1ssim” Pereira finished 33-25 with a 1.38 rating, Eduardo “dumau” Wolkmer was 37-30 with a 1.34 rating, and Bruno “latto” Rebella ended 37-25 with a 1.18 rating. Andrei “arT” Piovezan recorded 19-31 and a 0.78 rating. For MIBR, Lucas “nqz” Soares led the team with 29-29 and a 1.04 rating; Breno “brnz4n” Polettobrnz4n was 27-33 (0.96), Felipe “insani” Yuji was 28-34 (0.91), Linus “LNZ” Holtäng 24-33 (0.81) and Carlos “venomzera” Eduardo 23-36 (0.80).

Notable moments included dumau’s three-kill sequence with a Five-Seven and nqz converting a 1v2 clutch to complete a four-kill round for MIBR. Legacy repeatedly disrupted MIBR’s planned Upper-site attacks and converted several important post-plant situations across both maps. With the victory, Legacy advanced to the Esports World Cup playoff bracket while MIBR was eliminated from the top-16 stage.
