House of Morok unveils Peak or Die survival game

House of Morok revealed Peak or Die, a narrative survival-horror on Brebeneskul where players manage oxygen, food and team morale while making morally fraught choices.

House of Morok, a Ukrainian indie studio, has revealed Peak or Die, a narrative survival-horror set on Brebeneskul, one of Ukraine’s highest Carpathian peaks. Players lead an expedition and must manage oxygen, food and team morale while coping with weather, injury and other route hazards.

Gameplay centers on consequence-driven choices. Players will weigh trade-offs such as helping injured climbers at the cost of supplies or preserving resources and leaving someone behind, and searching ruins for gear while risking exposure to storms versus retreating with less equipment. The studio describes the design as focused on tension and psychological pressure instead of simple pass/fail mechanics.

The project began at the charity game jam Igrovary 2025. The team draws on the local landscape, Ukrainian mythology and regional folklore horror for the game’s themes and visuals. House of Morok plans to model real locations near Brebeneskul in future builds, including a nearby lake and a castle.

House of Morok wrote: “Peak or Die is a narrative-driven survival game in which a team of adventurers ascends a deadly mountain where every decision has consequences. Manage oxygen, food, and team morale while facing moral dilemmas and a ruthless environment. Reach the summit — or die trying.” The developers add there are “no perfect choices in Peak or Die, only compromises, risks, and consequences.”

Peak or Die will be available in Ukrainian and English. The studio has not announced a release date. The game is available to add to a Steam wishlist now, and House of Morok has presented early concept material and core systems while promising more information on platforms, pricing and launch timing in later updates.
