HEROIC will ‘breathe’ then review roster after Cologne exit
After an early Cologne Major exit, HEROIC coach Tobias ‘TOBIZ’ Theo said the team will return home, ‘breathe a little’ and conduct an internal review of players, coaching and future plans.
HEROIC was eliminated early from the Cologne Major after recording a single win and failed to progress from the opening matches.
TOBIZ described the team’s play in Cologne as affected by mistakes rather than tactical issues. The side beat Gaimin Gladiators once but lost two opening matches where individual errors proved decisive. ‘Right now it’s the bad rounds, bad situations, and bad team mistakes we are doing that are popping into the head,’ TOBIZ said in an exit interview.
The season was disrupted after AWPer Alimzhan ‘Alkaren’ Bitimbay was sidelined by visa issues. Simon ‘yxngstxr’ moved into a new role on short notice. TOBIZ rejected the idea that the AWPer change alone explained the results, saying mistakes by other players contributed to the defeats.
The organisation will carry out an internal review of players and coaching after the team returns from Cologne. The coach confirmed the current roster will remain in place until the end of the season and said tournament invites and upcoming event plans have already been discussed. No timeline for roster changes was provided.
TOBIZ pointed to positives such as qualifying for the Major and occasional strong showings in practice and competition, while noting the team has struggled with consistency across both major and smaller events. ‘We have a hard time analyzing what is going wrong exactly,’ he added.
