Google Play becomes official sponsor of South Korea’s FSL

South Korean live-streaming platform SOOP has named Google Play an official sponsor of the FC Online Super Champions League (FSL) for the current season. Nexon hosts and organises the league while SOOP operates the competition.

The FSL season opened with a group draw ceremony on July 29 at the Jamsil DN Colosseum. The competition will finish with a grand final on Sept. 6, when the season champion is crowned. The league features many of South Korea’s leading EA FC Online organisations and players.

Google Play previously partnered with SOOP as title sponsor of the Google Play ASL Seasons 20 and 21, SOOP announced. The Season 21 finals, held in May at KINTEX in Ilsan during a major gaming event, drew about 1,500 spectators and saw 500 official seats sell out within seconds, according to SOOP figures.

The Google Play ASL Season 22 finals are scheduled for the Lotte World Ice Garden in Jamsil and are planned at a larger venue to increase live capacity and improve the spectator experience.

SOOP operates several in-house leagues, including ASL for StarCraft, GSL and FSL for EA FC Online. The company has said it will continue working with Google Play to support development of South Korea’s domestic esports ecosystem.

Recent commercial activity from SOOP includes extending a partnership with Gen.G through 2028 and maintaining a strategic agreement with BNK FEARX (BFX), a team that competes in League of Legends and FC Online.

The expanded sponsorship places Google Play branding across SOOP’s events beyond StarCraft, with the current FSL season the first to list Google Play as an official sponsor.
