Gizmy: Only EWC qualification will do for 100 Thieves

Jack “Gizmy” von Spreckelsen set qualifying for the EWC as his only acceptable result after 100 Thieves advanced from the EWC open qualifier with back-to-back 2-0 wins.

The British in-game leader joined the roster about a month ago and replaced Håvard “rain” Nygaard as IGL. The wins came in the early rounds of the qualifier and were described by Gizmy as straightforward.

He set the immediate target: secure a spot at the EWC. The next stage could require multiple best-of-three series in a single day.

Gizmy has implemented his T-side system and has contributed ideas for CT setups. Coaches adjusted their work to align with his plans, and players including gla1ve and zander adopted many of his methods.

Gizmy described the locker-room atmosphere as relaxed and productive, with players joking while focusing on practice.

100 Thieves’ recent results have been mixed. They pushed Spirit in the online portion of BLAST Bounty, beat Falcons, and lost to Ninjas in Pyjamas and Nuclear TigeRES in the StarSeries qualifier. Gizmy attributed some losses to limited time to build chemistry and the need for more repetitions on defaults and CT setups.

The roster sits at No. 39 in the VRS rankings, leaving 100 Thieves outside automatic invites to tier-one events. The team has signed up for Stake Pulse 2 and may appear at a Logitech event to earn LAN points and improve seeding.

Gizmy identified reaching the Major as the season goal and described playing alongside established teammates as sometimes surreal.

For now the team will focus on winning each match in the open and closed qualifiers that determine access to larger events and LAN points.
