Gentle Mates launches trading card game of club history

Gentle Mates, the French esports organisation founded by streamers Squeezie, Gotaga and Brawks, has launched a physical trading card game that depicts moments from the club’s history rather than fantasy characters or creatures. The product is available now through the club’s official website.

The game is sold in four pack tiers. The Essential pack is priced at €49 (about $53), Prestige at €99 (about $107), Legendary at €199 (about $215) and Founder at €349 (about $377). Gentle Mates says every card in the initial print run will carry a ‘First Edition’ stamp that will not appear on future reprints.

The cards are built around past matches, players and key moments in the club’s history. The publisher used the ‘First Edition’ stamp as a scarcity mechanism for early buyers, a practice common in the trading card industry.

Trading card game revenue typically comes from sealed pack sales, periodic new set releases and a secondary market where certain cards gain value among collectors. Esports-related card projects have generated significant sales in the past; one limited-edition release tied to a major organisation has been estimated to have grossed more than $10 million. Another French club, Karmine Corp, has created a tactical trading card game called Blue Rising that also draws on club history and players.

Gentle Mates positions the trading card game as a standalone product separate from team sponsorships, media rights and prize money. The initial print run and sales are being handled online as part of the club’s wider merchandise offerings, joining other esports organisations producing physical collectibles tied to their brands.
