Gen.G’s Chovy donates 30 million won for heatwave relief

Gen.G mid laner Jeong Ji‑hoon ‘Chovy’ donated 30 million won to Hope Bridge for heatwave relief and will promote the ‘Cool Summer Day Campaign’ at a fan meeting on Aug. 2.

Gen.G mid laner Jeong Ji-hoon ‘Chovy’ donated 30 million won to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association to support people affected by South Korea’s summer heatwave, the association announced on July 16.

Hope Bridge announced the donation on July 16, noting the funds will be used for heatwave relief efforts such as distributing summer supplies and heatstroke-prevention items to elderly residents, people with disabilities and other groups at higher risk during extreme heat.

Chovy will introduce Hope Bridge’s ‘Cool Summer Day Campaign’ at his official fan meeting on Aug. 2 and will ask fans to consider donating or joining relief activities. The campaign is designed to raise awareness among fans about the challenges heatwaves create for older people and those with limited mobility or resources, and to direct small donations and volunteer efforts toward practical aid.

In a translated statement Chovy wrote that he made the donation to provide practical support to people struggling in their daily lives due to record-breaking heat and that he hopes the fan meeting will be a time to share the purpose with his fans.

Shin Hoon, secretary general of Hope Bridge, wrote in a translated statement that Jeong participates in relief efforts during national disasters and that the association will ensure the donation reaches heat-vulnerable groups.

Chovy has given regularly since turning professional around 2020. In September 2025 he donated 20 million won to assist residents affected by a drought in Gangneung City. By late 2025 his contributions through Hope Bridge and other channels exceeded 100 million won, qualifying him for Hope Bridge’s Honor’s Club; other members include J‑Hope, Jungkook, Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Sejeong.

The donation follows other recent charitable activity in esports. Team Liquid partnered with a sports memorabilia platform to auction jerseys worn at the Esports World Cup 2026, with net proceeds allocated to UNICEF. Virtus.pro collaborated with Gamers Outreach to fund gaming equipment and experiences for children in hospitals.
