G2 and BIG meet at 17:00 local time on 8 June at the IEM Cologne Major in a 2-1 pool decider. The winner will finish 3-1 in Stage 2 and advance to Stage 3 of the Major; the loser will finish 2-2.
Stage 2 play continues on the tournament’s third day, when three more teams will secure Stage 3 berths and three others will be eliminated. Spirit and FUT reached 3-0 and have already advanced to Stage 3. FlyQuest and GamerLegion were eliminated after finishing 0-3 in the round-robin Swiss portion.
Two other 2-1 matches are scheduled at 14:30. Monte, which recorded surprise wins over BIG and Legacy to reach this position, faces BetBoom. TYLOO plays 9z in the other 14:30 match; 9z lost decisively to Spirit earlier in the stage and will attempt to qualify on their second try.
Three elimination matches are set for the day. Astralis meets paiN and MIBR faces B8 at 12:00 local time; the losers of those matches will be eliminated from the Major. The day ends with M80 against Legacy at 17:00; a loss would eliminate CAC champions Legacy from the tournament.
G2 and BIG enter the decider with 2-1 records. G2 have an extended Major history, while BIG have recorded consistent Stage 2 performances at recent events. Wednesday’s results will determine which three teams join Spirit and FUT in Stage 3 and which three see their Major runs end.
