G2’s valyn reportedly set to join Fnatic for VCT 2027

G2 Esports in-game leader Jacob “valyn” Batio is reportedly set to join Fnatic before the 2027 VCT season. The reported transfer follows G2’s plans to reshape its roster after a 2026 campaign in which it failed to qualify for Masters, according to the available reports.

Valyn had previously been linked with LYON, with the teams understood to have reached a verbal agreement. The deal did not proceed after the Mexican organization failed to secure a partner slot for the 2027 season.

The American player represented G2 at eight international events between 2023 and 2026. He helped the team win all three VCT Americas events in 2025 and Americas Stage 1 in 2026. G2 also reached the top four at four Masters tournaments and Champions 2026.

G2 is reportedly considering several roster changes after valyn’s expected departure. The organization is linked with Brazilian teenager Eduardo “Sato” Nagahama of Leviatán and is considering Leviatán captain Francisco “kiNgg” Aravena for the in-game leader position.

G2 is also reportedly preparing to part ways with Andrej “babybay” Francisty. Nathan “leaf” Orf, Trent “trent” Cairns and head coach Josh “JoshRT” Lee have contracts running through 2028, according to Riot Games’ VCT Global Contract Database.

Alexander “Jawgemo” Mor’s contract expires in 2026. G2 has not confirmed whether it will extend the Duelist’s contract or sign a replacement before the 2027 season.

Fnatic’s reported 2027 roster would retain Kajetan “kaajak” Haremski and Kirill “Cloud” Nekhozhin. Valyn would be joined by Gentle Mates players Patrik “Minny” Hušek and Martin “marteen” Pátek. Former NAVI player Kyrylo “ANGE1” Karasov is reportedly being considered for the head coach position.

The reported Fnatic lineup has not been confirmed. Fnatic finished the 2026 season without qualifying for Masters or Champions.
