G2 Terminates Perkz After Backlash Over Abortion Comments

G2 Esports terminated head coach Luka “Perkz” Perković’s contract after comments about abortion and his personal beliefs drew backlash online.

G2 Esports terminated head coach Luka “Perkz” Perković’s contract on Nov. 4 after comments about abortion and other personal beliefs in a post on X drew criticism from fans and members of the League of Legends community.

Perković published the post after G2 failed to qualify for the playoff stage at Worlds 2026. He reflected on his career and move into coaching, then discussed politics, his Catholic faith, his former relationship with G2 owner Carlos “ocelote” Rodríguez Santiago and his contact with the Tate brothers.

The strongest reaction followed his comments on abortion. “I cannot comprehend how people do not understand that it is murder, as life is created at conception,” Perković wrote. “That is one view I will die by and never change.”

Laure “Bulii” Valée was among those who criticized the comments. She urged women not to feel ashamed of decisions about abortion, describing the choice as “deeply and rightfully yours.”

G2 CEO Alban Dechelotte addressed the post in a statement. He wrote that some of Perković’s comments did not align with G2’s stance and values and had hurt many fans.

“G2 is a diverse and international organization with different people from all around the world,” Dechelotte wrote. “We have fans with different cultures and personal opinions, and it is of the utmost importance to us as an organisation that we respect and uphold this diversity when representing G2.”

The organization apologized for the impact of the comments and confirmed that it had terminated its collaboration with Perković. G2 also asked fans for patience while it reviews its staff and roster for next season, adding that it will not announce changes until free agency officially opens.

Perković joined G2’s League of Legends coaching staff in July 2026. The organization is expected to make changes during the offseason after its early exit from Worlds 2026.

Linas “Lyncas” Nauncikas has been reported as a possible new jungler for G2 in 2027. Negotiations have not been completed.
