G2’s NertZ credits trust and bootcamp tweaks for Inferno revival
G2’s NertZ credited coach and captain trust and bootcamp tweaks for his improved Inferno as G2 beat BIG to reach Stage 3.
Guy “NertZ” Iluz credited trust from G2’s coach and captain and tactical tweaks at a pre-event bootcamp after G2 beat BIG to advance to Stage 3. He posted a 2.69 rating on Inferno, helping the team control the B bomb site.
He joined G2 mid-season and has been working to become comfortable on maps he previously avoided. At bootcamp the team adjusted positions and weapon choices to suit him and teammate MATYS. “It was very fun, especially to play with MATYS and the AK,” NertZ said.
NertZ credited the coaching staff and the in-game leader for giving him clear responsibility and the freedom to try his ideas. He described the guidance as permission to take space on maps and bring personal calls: “take the responsibility, bring it in that you like, we will talk about it after,” he recalled.
He highlighted the reunion with Eetu “sAw” Saha and Álvaro “SunPayus” García, saying both retained their playing styles and that SunPayus understands how he prefers to operate. The familiarity helped coordination in-game.
On visible frustration during matches, NertZ said emotional reactions were part of the team’s personality and not a sign of deeper problems. “If you move on, everything will be good,” he added.
Looking to Stage 3, NertZ said his focus is to maintain the same level of play against stronger opponents and to show team chemistry. On results he set reaching the playoffs as the minimum expectation. “My individual goal is showing good team chemistry,” he said.
