G2 Esports Reportedly Plans to Replace SkewMond
G2 Esports reportedly plans to change its starting jungler for the 2027 LEC season after its Worlds 2026 exit. Rudy “SkewMond” Semaan remains under contract through Nov. 20, 2028.
G2 Esports reportedly plans to replace jungler Rudy “SkewMond” Semaan in its starting lineup for the 2027 LEC season. The organization is seeking a buyout for the player rather than releasing him without a fee, according to reports. Neither SkewMond’s next team nor his replacement has been confirmed.
The change would end SkewMond’s two-year run as G2’s starting jungler. The French-Lebanese player joined G2 in December 2024 after helping Team BDS Academy win the 2024 Summer EMEA Masters.
SkewMond finished second with G2 in the 2025 Winter and Spring splits before winning his first LEC title in Summer 2025. G2 defeated Movistar KOI 3-0 in the final. The team later reached the Worlds 2025 quarterfinals, where Top Esports won 3-1.
G2 kept the same starting lineup for 2026 and won LEC Versus, Spring and Summer. Those results gave SkewMond four domestic titles across two seasons. He also received the Spring Finals MVP award.
G2’s strongest international result in 2026 came at First Stand. The team defeated Gen.G 3-0 in the semifinals, with SkewMond earning series MVP honors, before losing 3-1 to Bilibili Gaming in the final. G2 later finished fourth at MSI 2026 after beating T1 3-1 and losing 3-0 to LYON.
G2’s season ended in the Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage. The team, competing as EMEA’s top seed, lost its opening match to Dplus KIA, beat LOS and then lost to Top Esports. Hanwha Life Esports eliminated G2 with a 2-0 win on Oct. 30, leaving the team with a 1-3 record.
After the elimination, G2 general manager Romain Bigeard described the result as “the end of a two-year adventure” and indicated that the organization was turning its attention to the offseason.
Potential replacements mentioned in connection with the position include Martin “Yike” Sundelin, whom SkewMond replaced in 2024, and Linas “Lyncas” Nauncikas. G2 could also consider a jungler from Europe’s regional leagues, but no negotiations have been reported. Any transfer involving SkewMond would require an agreement on a buyout with G2.
