FURIA survives 9z after yuurih’s four clutches on Mirage

FURIA defeated 9z at LANXESS Arena in the IEM Cologne Major playoffs after Yuri ‘yuurih’ Santos secured four clutches on Mirage that swung late rounds in FURIA’s favor.

In a postmatch interview, the Brazilian rifler described the pistol round on Mirage as difficult and recalled expecting an opponent from stairs in a 2v1. He recalled: “Actually, it was hard, the pistol. I just went crazy, and I think I expected a guy going stairs in the 2v1, so I knew he was close. When I killed him, I knew I would win the round.”

He acknowledged a mistake after that sequence and took responsibility for a lost force-buy: “But afterward, I played bad, we lost the force-buy as well. My bad.” He also praised his teammates’ play on Mirage, saying everyone “played insane.”

On his individual form, yuurih said he has struggled on the Terrorist side since the start of the year while maintaining better performance on the Counter-Terrorist side. “Since the start of the year, I have been struggling on T side… About CT side, I have been playing good, but it’s more about T side since the start of the year, and it has been hard,” he added.

Discussing the tournament draw and the next opponent, yuurih described his half of the bracket as the easier side but noted strong teams remain. FURIA are scheduled to face Aurora next; he pointed out Aurora have shown strong Counter-Strike at the Major and called the match “really tough,” while expressing belief that FURIA can win and reach the finals.

The victory keeps FURIA alive in the Cologne playoffs and sets up the Aurora matchup as the team pursues a deeper run in the event.
