FURIA coach Sidde: ‘Bitter aftertaste’ at EWC

FURIA exited the EWC after a semifinal loss to FUT and a 2-1 defeat to Legacy in the bronze match. Coach Sidde described the tournament as leaving a “bitter aftertaste” despite the team reaching the top four.

Sidde pointed to a late collapse in the semifinal as a defining moment. The team held a 5v3 advantage at 10-7 on the decider and did not close the game. He attributed the losses to rushed decision-making and a loss of on-field connection, saying, “Rationally, my assessment is positive; emotionally, it’s really bad.”

The club has adjusted in-game leadership on three maps. Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis now leads on Ancient, Anubis and Cache. Sidde explained the change as map-specific, noting YEKINDAR faces fewer positional difficulties on those maps. “There is no other reason than the fact that he is the best captain for our team on those maps,” he said.

With captain Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo planning to retire, FURIA is considering two roster options. One is to sign a new captain while keeping YEKINDAR’s current map duties. The other is to add a non-captain player and give YEKINDAR full in-game leading responsibilities. Sidde said negotiations and the transfer market will determine the path and acknowledged outside rumors about other players, including Danil “molodoy” Golubenko.

Looking ahead to BLAST Porto, Sidde said the team has limited time but expects fixes to come through discussion and alignment rather than long technical work. He set a clear objective for the event: reach the playoffs. Sidde also mentioned the event’s importance for the club and Brazilian fans and expressed personal interest in visiting Portugal.

FURIA’s current lineup has won four trophies in 2025. Sidde urged the squad to restore composure and connection on the server, saying, “I want the team to fix these mistakes, because this is not the real FURIA.”
