FL1T: PARIVISION are still growing after NAVI loss

PARIVISION lost to NAVI in the IEM Beijing quarter-finals. FL1T described the defeat as frustrating and outlined the team’s work before the Major.

PARIVISION’s IEM Beijing run ended with a narrow quarter-final loss to Natus Vincere. Evgenii “FL1T” Lebedev described the result as frustrating after his team gave up control of Inferno despite taking an early lead.

PARIVISION went 7-2 ahead on the map before NAVI won several important rounds. The momentum then shifted, allowing NAVI to control the rest of the game.

“It feels very frustrating, because as a team we felt pretty comfortable and at the time it seemed like we were controlling the flow of the game,” FL1T said. “But at one point on Inferno, from a score of 7-2, we gave away the key rounds there and gave the game over to their control.”

The 25-year-old remained positive about PARIVISION’s recent progress. He noted that the team’s results have improved from tournament to tournament and that the players are developing better chemistry.

NAVI selected Mirage and removed Cache during the veto. PARIVISION expected one of those maps to be chosen. The team considered Mirage more likely because NAVI had recently beaten Falcons there, while PARIVISION had produced strong results on Cache and previously defeated NAVI on the map.

PARIVISION also used early tactical pauses during the event. Coach Ludson “dastan” Almeida introduced the approach to gain more control at the beginning of maps. FL1T felt it generally helped the team manage the pace of its matches.

“Overall, each of us is still looking for our own way to help the team win,” FL1T said. “I think it’s worked out somewhat in our favor: we held onto the start of the game, which helped us control the flow of the map.”

FL1T also discussed dastan’s efforts to control his emotions and change his approach to the team. He described the coach as different from when FL1T joined PARIVISION and noted that dastan is now working with experienced players such as FL1T, Abay “HObbit” Khassenov and Jame.

The return of HObbit has added experience to the lineup. FL1T highlighted the veteran’s calm approach, game knowledge and ability to offer new ideas in different situations.

“It’s very nice playing with him,” FL1T said. “You can feel the insane experience; you can feel his coolheadedness.”

FL1T added that the players’ individual form is not yet at its best because the team is still refining its structure. He pointed to mistakes involving positioning, crosshair placement and preparation for duels.

Before the upcoming Major, PARIVISION plans to work on team coordination and individual skill. FL1T said the players will use practice matches and deathmatch sessions as part of their preparation.
