FaZe, The MongolZ among teams to join FISSURE Playground 3
FISSURE confirmed FaZe and The MongolZ have accepted invites to FISSURE Playground 3, set to begin in Suzhou on Sept. 8.
FISSURE announced eight teams have accepted invites to FISSURE Playground 3, naming FaZe and The MongolZ among the confirmed participants. The tournament is scheduled to start in Suzhou on Sept. 8.
The event was originally listed as FPG 5 but was renamed after the third and fourth editions of Playground were cancelled because of “logistical conflicts.” Organizers moved the location from Shenzhen to Suzhou and will stage the tournament in partnership with Chinese operator GGMEDIA.
Named invitees include Legacy, BetBoom, PARIVISION, Alliance and TYLOO, in addition to FaZe and The MongolZ. Legacy and BetBoom are competing at BLAST Open Porto the weekend before FISSURE Playground 3 begins; if either reaches the Porto final, the team would have one day to travel from Portugal to China to make the Sept. 8 start.
Organizers noted five of the current invitees are ranked inside the world top 15 in the latest global rankings. The confirmed acceptances provide an initial field while FISSURE works to fill the remaining slots.
Eight team berths remain open. One place will be decided through an Asia Closed Qualifier and seven further spots will be filled through additional VRS invitations issued by FISSURE. The organizer will publish the full team list as those invitations are finalized.
FISSURE had planned recurring Playground events for professional Counter-Strike teams; the cancellation of two consecutive editions earlier this year prompted changes to the schedule and tournament name. The relocation to Suzhou and the partnership with GGMEDIA are intended to allow the rescheduled third edition to proceed after those disruptions.
