EWC 2026 sets Tekken peak viewers as M. Zubair wins

Esports World Cup 2026 in Paris recorded a peak audience of 114.1K for its Tekken tournament and logged more than 1.34 million hours watched. The event became the most-watched Tekken tournament of 2026 by hours watched and ranked among the top three Tekken events of the year by peak viewers.

Khawaja Muhammad “M. Zubair” Zubair reached the main stage through the Last Chance Qualifier and defeated several top players to take the title. He beat reigning champion Lim “ULSAN” Soo-hoon in the opening round of the group stage, defeated Arslan “Arslan Ash” Siddique twice including a 5:4 semifinal, and swept Yoon “LowHigh” Sun-woong 5:0 in the grand final. The win awarded M. Zubair $250,000 and an invitation to the Tekken World Tour Finals 2026.

Organizers presented M. Zubair with the Jafonso Award and an additional $50,000 in recognition of his route from the Last Chance Qualifier to the championship. The achievement was marked on the permanent EWC Totem at the venue. Representing All Gamers, M. Zubair’s victory added 1,000 points to the club’s Club Championship tally; after five weeks, All Gamers leads the standings with 3,350 points.

Event data showed Tekken peak viewership rose 14.4% year over year. By hours watched, the Tekken bracket matched last year’s total for the series and narrowly surpassed other major Tekken events held earlier in the year.

The tournament’s most-watched match was the semifinal between M. Zubair and Arslan Ash, a 5:4 contest that drew the largest single-match audience of the event. Overall interest in the Tekken bracket contributed to higher viewership metrics than the prior Esports World Cup peak.

The results reflected a broader geographic spread among top players. The top eight included three competitors from Pakistan and one from Saudi Arabia, compared with the previous year when South Korean and Japanese players occupied all playoff spots.

Organizers released full schedules, match results and statistics for EWC 2026. M. Zubair’s run from qualifier to champion was noted among the tournament’s defining storylines in Paris.
