Esports Foundation sets ENC 2026 Wildcard rules, merit GCC host

Esports Foundation detailed Wildcard slots for ENC 2026, including Solidarity Slots, Special Invitations and a merit-based GCC host slot; Wildcard teams receive paid travel and lodging.
The Esports Foundation published Wildcard rules for the Esports Nations Cup 2026, defining Solidarity Slots, Special Invitations and a Host Region Slot for the Gulf Cooperation Council. The foundation confirmed all Wildcard teams will receive paid travel and accommodation. ENC 2026 takes place November 2–29 and features national teams across 16 esports disciplines.
Most national teams will qualify through direct invitations based on player rankings or through standard qualifiers. The remaining berths will be allocated through the three Wildcard categories to address structural, technical and regional barriers for underrepresented countries.
Solidarity Slots are open to countries and territories that have qualified in no more than one ENC discipline. Applications open July 20 and eligible nations may apply for a slot in their strongest title. Counter-Strike 2 is excluded from Solidarity Slot allocation. After the main qualifiers conclude, the foundation will consult with game publishers to assign these slots based on competitiveness and regional balance.
Special Invitations are intended for countries unable to participate in standard qualifiers because of technical or structural limitations. These invitations apply only to selected disciplines and are awarded on eligibility rather than recent competitive results.
The foundation published title-by-title allocations for Special Invitations and Solidarity Slots. EA Sports FC will receive five Special Invitations and two Solidarity Slots, PUBG MOBILE four Special Invitations and one Solidarity Slot, Chess two Solidarity Slots, Rocket League two Solidarity Slots, Honor of Kings one Special Invitation and one Solidarity Slot, and Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves one Special Invitation and one Solidarity Slot. All other disciplines, except Counter-Strike 2, will receive one Solidarity Slot each.
The host allocation departs from the usual automatic berth. Saudi Arabia will not receive a guaranteed spot as host. Instead the foundation created a merit-based Host Region Slot covering Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The slot will be awarded to the GCC country that posts the strongest results and has not already qualified through standard pathways.
The foundation confirmed that game publishers will be involved in the Wildcard allocation process to help maintain competitive balance and regional representation.
