Spirit beat MIBR 13-1 at IEM Cologne Stage 2 and will face 9z; Danil “donk” Kryshkovets holds a 2.01 rating after two best-of-one wins.
Spirit closed day one of IEM Cologne Major Stage 2 with a 13-1 win over MIBR on Mirage and moved to 2-0 in the Swiss phase. The team is scheduled to play 9z on June 7 at 17:00 local time.
Danil “donk” Kryshkovets posted a 2.01 rating across two best-of-one matches. Spirit’s Mirage victory produced the lopsided scoreline and secured their place in the 2-0 pool.
9z reached 2-0 after a 13-5 win over Astralis and will meet Spirit in a winners-vs-winners Round 3 pairing. Stage 2 uses a Swiss, best-of-one format: teams at 2-0 are one win from advancing, while teams at 0-2 face elimination.
Other matches on June 6 included a triple-overtime game on Mirage where G2 beat Monte 22-19 after surviving multiple match points. FUT defeated TYLOO 13-9.
BIG beat paiN 13-9 on Overpass. Jon “JDC” de Castro and Benjamin “blameF” Bremer combined for 47 kills in that match. The game began with paiN on the Terrorist side after a problem during the map veto; Rodrigo “biguzera” Bittencourt reported his team completed the veto with two minutes to spare and that the tournament website had been lagging earlier on Saturday.
BetBoom recovered from an earlier heavy loss to Spirit and beat GamerLegion 13-9. Legacy defeated FlyQuest 13-7, with in-game leader Andrei “arT” Piovezan recording a 2.03 rating.
M80 upset B8 13-10 in another surprise result. Mason “Lake” Sanderson and Fritz “slaxz-” Dietrich combined for 45 frags to lead the North American side.
After two rounds four teams sit at 2-0 and four teams at 0-2, with the remaining teams at 1-1. Round 3 on June 7 pairs winners against winners and losers against losers. Teams will return for that round with advancement and elimination on the line.
