CS2 May 8 update adds Nightmode 2 music kits, Сache fixes

Valve released a May 8 update for Counter-Strike 2 that adds six Nightmode 2 music kits to the in-game store and applies a series of fixes to the Cache map and multiple game systems.

The Nightmode 2 kits feature tracks from SHOCKONE, ALRT and other artists. Each kit is available for individual purchase in standard and StatTrak versions through the STORE tab. Players can preview a kit’s main menu theme in the store before buying. The kits are sold directly rather than through randomized boxes.

Patch notes list several Cache-specific changes made as part of map polishing ahead of the map’s planned inclusion in the Premier map pool. Updates include filling various holes in map geometry, simplifying grenade clipping in multiple areas, correcting sound and surface-type assignments for several materials, and replacing an orange wire spool at Sandbags with a white one.

The update also fixes workshop and rendering issues, including progressive refinement rendering in Source Film Maker. Networked user viewmodel FOV now appears correctly to remote clients, player model occlusion bounds were adjusted, and ragdolls regain proper death velocity when certain body parts are shot. The patch smooths transitions for leaving the ground and landing, fixes cases where post-processing transitions were abrupt (such as at the end of freeze time), and resolves a problem that prevented map guides for Ancient from loading in the nighttime version.

Gameplay scoring and progression were adjusted: score values for various weapons in Deathmatch were changed, and XP limits were modified in Deathmatch and Arms Race modes. The patch notes present these as balance and progression adjustments. In the previous Сache fixes, Valve increased bomb explosion radius.

The Nightmode 2 kits are available immediately in the CS2 STORE tab in both regular and StatTrak editions; StatTrak variants record in-game statistics for the player.
