Bymas admits tilt in Monte’s 13-11 win at Cologne Major
Aurimas ‘Bymas’ Pipiras said a technical pause sparked tilt, but Monte held on to beat Legacy 13-11 at the Cologne Major and must address mental lapses.
On day two of the Cologne Major, Monte beat Legacy 13-11 in a best-of-one to move to 2-1 in their pool. The result followed an opening win over BIG and a narrow triple-overtime loss to G2.
Aurimas “Bymas” Pipiras acknowledged the match was disrupted by a technical issue immediately after Monte won the pistol round. He called the interruption frustrating and said the long pause stalled the team’s momentum, producing a bout of tilt that they will need to fix. “We almost lost to ourselves… It sucks to have this long pause,” he said.
When asked whether the dip in focus stemmed from the tense game against G2, Bymas rejected that explanation and described the mental slip as coming “out of nowhere.” He noted the squad remained proud of their G2 performance and stressed the close games demonstrate Monte can compete with top teams.
Bymas attributed his impact in the first two matches to experience and a strong personal performance rather than a change in role, calling it “a good day in the office.” He said Major experience helps with taking extra fights and staying calm in tense moments. He also praised Monte’s young in-game leader for being “brave” and for taking calls, and pointed to the coach as a stabilizing presence behind the team.
Monte entered the event hoping to avoid a 0-3 exit; reaching 2-1 has lifted the squad’s confidence. Bymas said fixing the team’s tendency to tilt will be a priority if they are to carry momentum through the remainder of the Major.
