Boombl4: BetBoom rallies from 4-11 to beat Falcons

BetBoom overturned a 4-11 deficit to win Nuke 13-11 and then closed the series on Ancient to eliminate Falcons and advance to Stage 3 at IEM Cologne. The result kept BetBoom unbeaten in Stage 3 after they progressed from Stage 1.

The Nuke map shifted after BetBoom secured a key buy round and then won several rounds in succession to complete the comeback. Kirill ‘Boombl4’ Mikhailov described the turnaround as the team following its prepared plan: “It’s no secret, bro. We were just following the plan. We got the first buyround and we had the energy like we want to try the comeback, that’s all.”

BetBoom’s season has been affected by visa problems that required the team to use stand-ins from qualification through Stage 3. Boombl4 called the campaign the most unexpected of his career because the lineup changed frequently, including around the Major.

Coach Fierce has been implementing a structure while the roster rotated. Boombl4 noted that when stand-ins are used only four players can consistently take in the coach’s instructions, so the team focuses on making a clear plan for each LAN match.

Timur ‘FL4MUS’ Marev has been slotted in and out of the lineup and has had to change roles when d1Ledez returns. Boombl4 praised FL4MUS’s energy and aim and added that shooting accuracy is an important factor at the CS2 top level.

After the Falcons match BetBoom improved to 2-0 in Stage 3. Their only loss in the event so far came against Spirit. Boombl4 said he tries to avoid declaring playoff qualification to prevent extra pressure, and that a 2-3 finish would be acceptable given the stand-in situation.

The team attributes its results to regular practice and coach-driven match plans. BetBoom will continue to manage the logistical and communication challenges associated with a rotating lineup as the tournament progresses.
