BLAST partners with DAIGON for school esports championship
BLAST will sponsor the School Esports World Championships, a student gaming tournament scheduled for Nov. 19-22 at PLAYCON in Malta.
BLAST has partnered with DAIGON Esports to sponsor the School Esports World Championships, a global school gaming tournament scheduled for Nov. 19-22, 2026, at PLAYCON in Malta.
BLAST will serve as a premier brand sponsor and sponsor the tournament’s main prize. The event will not award cash. Its prizes will focus on educational enrichment, student development and digital literacy.
School teams from several countries will compete in popular video games. Participants will come from DAIGON’s network of partner schools, including schools affiliated with the Council of British International Schools, British Schools in the Middle East, the Independent Schools Association and the Educational Collaborative for International Schools.
Organisers say the tournament will be held in a safeguarded educational setting that prioritises the protection and wellbeing of young players. Students will take part in activities focused on teamwork, leadership and digital skills.
James Woollard, BLAST’s vice president of destinations and market development, described Malta as an important part of the company’s esports operations. “We are committed to supporting the growth of its local esports ecosystem, from grassroots initiatives through to world-class events,” he said in a statement. Woollard added that the partnership would support BLAST’s work with youth esports.
David Higginson, co-founder and chief revenue officer of DAIGON Esports, said the partnership would raise the profile of scholastic esports. He described the tournament as a safe and inclusive setting where students can develop skills linked to future digital work.
The SEWC is part of BLAST’s grassroots esports programmes. In August 2026, BLAST partnered with Riot Games to launch the VALORANT Campus Cup, a nationwide collegiate competition for colleges and universities in India.
The British Esports Federation has also announced EGAMES DUBAI27, an international scholastic esports initiative.
