Biguzera 1v4 clutch keeps paiN alive at Esports World Cup

paiN recovered from an overtime loss on Inferno to defeat Wildcard 2-1 in Group D’s lower bracket at the Esports World Cup. The best-of-three went to Inferno, Nuke and Mirage, with the series decided on the third map.

Wildcard won Inferno in overtime. paiN responded with a strong performance on Nuke to force a decider. Mirage was close late before Rodrigo “biguzera” Bittencourt won a 1v4 round that stopped Wildcard’s comeback and allowed paiN to close the match.

João “snow” Vinicius spoke after the game and described the clutch as an example of leadership. “I think that’s what a leader is there for,” he said, and added the round helped the team secure the victory.

Vinicius outlined how the series unfolded, saying Wildcard arrived well prepared and that lost rounds on Inferno created economic pressure for paiN. He noted the team regrouped for Nuke and Mirage and called the win an important confidence boost at the start of the tournament.

Vinicius reviewed paiN’s recent results and consistency issues, citing an early exit to DENDELE in the BLAST Porto qualifier, a last-place finish at Stake and a quarterfinal run at Bounty. He said the squad returned to Brazil after BLAST for a week of practice and called translating practice form into tournament results the team’s main challenge.

The victory moved paiN up eight places from No. 36 in the rankings. Vinicius said he does not follow the VRS closely but acknowledged that LAN wins affect invitations to future events and Major qualification.

paiN’s next match is against The MongolZ, who beat them twice earlier this year and have since made two roster changes. Vinicius said the new, younger players present unknown elements and that paiN is preparing for the matchup.

The win keeps paiN in Group D’s lower bracket and advances them to the next round of matches at the Esports World Cup.
