BIG edges Aurora 13-9 on Cache at EWC

BIG defeated Aurora 13-9 on Cache in an opening best-of-one at the EWC. BIG won both pistol rounds and controlled the gun rounds, advancing to face the winner of M80 versus G2 for a place in the round of 16. Aurora moves to the elimination side to play the loser of M80-G2.

BIG set a tempo with coordinated rounds and defended entries effectively. Jon “JDC” de Castro led BIG with 20 kills and a 100.0 ADR. Josef “faveN” Baumann finished 14-14 and Benjamin “blameF” Bremer recorded 15 kills. Gleb “gr1ks” Gazin entered the event with a 1.58 rating from the last-chance qualifier but posted a 14-14 line with 61.2 ADR and a 0.89 rating on Cache.

Aurora ran several two-player attacks built around Ismailcan “XANTARES” Dörtkardeş and Ali “Wicadia” Haydar Yalçın. XANTARES finished 18-16 with a 102.1 ADR and 86.4% KAST, and Wicadia finished 19-14 with a 1.34 rating. Jimi “Jimpphat” Salo went 13-13; a late 2v1 won by faveN prevented an immediate opportunity for Aurora to cut the deficit.

The result leaves BIG one win from the EWC playoffs. Aurora will play an elimination best-of-one against the loser of M80-G2 to remain in the event.

In the same session GamerLegion beat Luminosity 13-3. Timur “FL4MUS” Marev went 17-9 with a 1.85 rating and Fredrik “REZ” Sterner was 19-6 with a 1.77 rating. Luminosity are adapting after the departure of former in-game leader Jack “Gizmy” von Spreckelsen and failed to convert defensive setups during the match.
