BetBoom reach Cologne Major playoffs with 2-0 win over FUT
BetBoom beat FUT 2-0 at the Cologne Major group stage to secure a LANXESS arena playoff spot after advancing through three Swiss groups.
BetBoom defeated FUT 2-0 on Sunday in the Cologne Major group stage to secure a playoff place at the LANXESS arena. The team advanced through three successive Swiss groups while fielding last-minute stand-ins: Timur “FL4MUS” Marev replaced Pavel “S1ren” Ogloblin and Aleksandr “zorte” Zagodyrenko appeared as a stand-in for Artem “ArtFr0st” Kharitonov.
BetBoom controlled both maps. On Mirage they led 11-1 at halftime on a map FUT usually prefers. Dust2 saw several momentum swings, but BetBoom held the lead in the closing stages and finished the series 2-0. Notable moments included a 1v1 clutch that gave BetBoom their first T-side round on Dust2 and late multi-kill rounds that swung momentum in BetBoom’s favour.
Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailov led BetBoom with 37 kills and 18 deaths, an average damage per round of 93.4 and a match rating of 1.76. Stand-in zorte posted 34-19 with 84.6 ADR and a 1.44 rating, while FL4MUS finished 33-23 with 88.5 ADR and a 1.38 rating. Kirill “Magnojez” Rodnov recorded 27-26 with 74.7 ADR and Daniil “d1Ledez” Kustov ended 20-25 with 58.1 ADR.
FUT produced lower numbers across the board. Laurențiu “lauNX” Țârlea had 27-29 and 71.3 ADR with a 1.04 rating; Džiugas “dziugss” Steponavičius posted 30-29 with 70.0 ADR and a 0.95 rating. Aulon “Krabeni” Fazlija finished 20-35 with 78.0 ADR and a 0.75 rating, while Dmytro “dem0n” Myroshnychenko and Nikita “cmtry” Samolotov recorded ratings of 0.73 and 0.64 respectively.
FUT coach András “coolio” Fercsák repeatedly urged his players to stop playing passively and to avoid panicking when relaying information. Krabeni acknowledged the team did not perform on Mirage and said pressure affected decision-making on Dust2, adding the side felt they were waiting to be punished.
Boombl4 described the moment after the match as “crazy emotions to be in playoffs with a stand-in” and said his experience compelled him to lead in tight moments.
The win sends BetBoom into the Cologne Major playoffs at the LANXESS arena. FUT will exit the Swiss stage following the loss.
