Beastik: 0-3 IEM Cologne exit ‘worse than not qualifying’

Sinners AWPer beastik called the team’s 0-3 group-stage exit at IEM Cologne worse than failing to qualify after defeats to FlyQuest, NRG and TYLOO.

Sinners’ AWPer beastik described the team’s 0-3 group-stage exit at the IEM Cologne Major in Germany as “worse than not qualifying.” The result followed losses to FlyQuest, NRG and TYLOO, leaving the squad without a win after they had recently secured a Major spot through regional qualifying.

Two of the matches were decided by small margins: an overtime loss to FlyQuest and a tight defeat on Inferno after Sinners held a lead. The team also lost separate matches to NRG and TYLOO to complete the group-stage sweep.

Beastik called the campaign “a disaster” and pointed to failures to close games and mental errors on stage. He recalled the expectations the squad had after earlier qualifying struggles: “We were always telling ourselves when we didn’t qualify like, ‘Bro, we would beat these guys, we would beat these guys, we would be in Stage 2, we would be in Stage 3.’ But when we are there, we are just… I don’t know, choking. We are not present in the game, we are making tons of mistakes.”

The AWPer flagged consequences for the team’s standing and tournament invitations. Despite a rise in the VRS ranking this season, he warned that a 0-3 Major exit could remove Sinners from invite consideration. He identified the upcoming China XSE event as the last immediate opportunity to regain momentum and suggested that a poor result there would likely force the team back into online qualifiers.

Beastik pointed to a pattern of recurring problems, referencing similar issues at the Atlanta event and attempts to address them before Cologne. “It’s getting worse and worse, and that’s what I don’t like,” he added.

Sinners will regroup and prepare for upcoming events, with China XSE listed as their next tournament where results could affect future invitations.
