Aurora beats BetBoom 2-0 to reach IEM Cologne semi-final

Aurora defeated BetBoom 2-0 at the LANXESS Arena in Cologne to reach the IEM Cologne Major semi-final for the first time.

Aurora beat BetBoom 2-0 at the LANXESS Arena in Cologne during the IEM Cologne Major quarter-finals, winning on Nuke and Anubis to advance to the semi-finals for the first time at a Major.

On Nuke, Aurora held a tactical edge through set plays and defensive setups. Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailov produced a series of clutches that kept the first half competitive, but Aurora maintained map control and closed the map without allowing BetBoom to build sustained momentum.

On Anubis, Aurora built early advantages and resisted three consecutive retakes late in the match to finish the map 13-9 and seal the series 2-0. The match took place on the IEM Cologne Major playoff stage at the LANXESS Arena.

Individual statistics highlighted Aurora’s performance. Ali “Wicadia” Haydar Yalçın led the team with 37 kills and a 1.56 rating, including key Deagle kills on Nuke. Ismailcan “XANTARES” Dörtkardeş posted a 46-30 K-D and a 1.49 overall rating, producing a high-impact T-side stretch on Nuke with a 168 ADR at one point and recording a career-best arena rating of 1.78 on that map. Özgür “woxic” Eker had 38 kills and a 1.45 rating. Engin “MAJ3R” Küpeli finished 30-21 with a 1.18 rating, while Caner “soulfly” Kesici recorded 21-27 and a 0.96 rating.

BetBoom reached the quarter-finals after advancing from Stage 1 with two stand-ins and limited practice. Daniil “d1Ledez” Kustov had 27 kills and a 1.01 rating. Kirill “Magnojez” Rodnov finished 35-36 with a 0.99 rating. Boombl4 contributed important clutches on Nuke but recorded a 0-15 line on Anubis and a 0.97 overall rating. Aleksandr “zorte” Zagodyrenko and Timur “FL4MUS” Marev had lower impact numbers in the match.

Aurora entered the event under arena pressure and amid reports that Ashley “ash” Battye will join as head coach after the tournament. The team also worked with a sports psychologist in the lead-up to Cologne. Aurora will meet an opponent in the semi-final stage of the Major.
